Trump is not the Messiah, but he’s not a very naughty boy, either!

Living in America for the last eight years, it has been fascinating to witness the rise of Trumpism across the country, especially in the Church. I used to attend a very politically involved church that prided themselves as “Christian Nationalists.” They weren’t. They were just reacting to the claim that Christians shouldn’t be patriotic or involved in politics at all. But I have to admit that the atmosphere of “Trump is our hope” versus “Harris and the Democrats” are akin to the anti-Christ was off-putting to say the least.

I now attend a much different church denomination (more on this in later blog posts) that, although very quiet when it comes to politics, still encourages the congregation to “get-involved” in our political system. The “Red versus Blue” split in my church is certainly narrower than my previous churches, with some that are, I suspect, “Never-Trumpers.”

So, what is the best way to unite as the Church today, especially on Inauguration Day? Four steps are recommended.

First, Donald J. Trump is our 47th President whether we like it or not. He received a massive mandate winning by a clear electoral vote and popular vote margin. It’s time to move on.

Second, President Trump is NOT the Messiah. He will not solve all of your problems and if you think he will, then you must redirect your trust in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Third, President Trump is NOT the anti-Christ. Besides, even if he was, the Church traditionally thrives under the most horrid regimes!

Fourth, and the most important, it is Christ the Lord who is our Messiah and the Savior of the whole world! And it is under the banner of his name that the Church must unite as the political world attempts to divide us more and more.
